INTRODUCTION TO SLED DOGGING
(Photos)
(info and prices)
This was the first program we offered, initiated in 1996 by Fabrizio Lovati, and it is now used by other organizations
nationally and internationally.
First there is a short course on the technique and theory of guiding the sled and leading the dogs (lasting about 30
minutes), then participants have the opportunity to take the sled out on a pre set course, each person guiding their
own sled pulled by 3-4 husky dogs, first hand experience of the thrills and difficulties of this sport.
Determining the length of the event for each person is always difficult, it depends on varying conditions, climatic and
those of the participants, we have had groups completing the course in 20 minutes and others in 40 minutes.
Each group is pre-established for example: 16 participants = 4 sleds with 4 groups, which finish at the same time, this
activity is organized by us only and exclusively for groups according to a seasonal set price. The maximum number of
participants is 30 per day, during special events up to 60.
Depending on the period of the season the activity is organized either in the morning or in the afternoon. From December
to January only in the afternoon or late morning, from February to April only in the morning so that the dogs do not have
to run in higher temperatures.
All groups that have taken part in this program have shown great enthusiasm and satisfaction, visit our press page to
see reviews on past events run by us in recent years. The Introduction course has been adapted and personalized on various
occasions according to the necessities of groups, group races followed by prize giving, or evening or night time excursions
including a characteristic dinner in a typical Aosta valley restaurant situated on the route.
